I assume Matt's post means Molly + Wes are in Hawaii. Good for them! If you check the ENE sky you'll see a pretty big "star" that's an exploding comet now greater than planet size + noticeable by eye even in the lights of Chicago. It blew on Oct. 23 + you may well have noticed without realizing what it is. Sat. Dom's team needs to come in 2nd for an automatic bid to nationals tho they may be able to get in as at large team- conceivably as low as 5th because they're the strongest region. So call him that night if you think of it.
For the many fine cooks in our family, Nic + I read The Chinese Chef, which is very descriptive of the food but its role in connectedness-e.g. no single servings. We both liked it a lot + especially the tone of cooperation/connectedness. I also thought Nicki could at least pronounce the Chinese phrases, which I wish I could do. I hope for that spirit in our family event. (Ironically I write here alone with the computer in front of my plate.)
On a sad note, Frieda Allen, who lived next to Todd + went to school with me from kindergarten on found her daughter dead at Edgewood College, apparently from a bulemia-related heart attack. Her dad, Chuck Curtis, also is a classmate of mine + Jim Schroeder, who will come up for the funeral. Un forunately I cannot join him.
Maria + Nicki I finally did lesson plans for faith formation that I'll save for next year. It was fun to have more structure than I could fit in.
